The application period is currently open for middle school teachers to serve as Middle School Aerospace Scholars who will attend one of three Educator Professional Development Institutes at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Educator Professional Development Institutes (EPDI) are weeklong workshops that map NASA's current missions and education resources to state and national standards for teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in middle school classrooms.
EPDI offers professional development credit hours in STEM areas and/or for gifted and talented awareness. Each teacher will participate in online activities prior to the onsite summer workshops at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; EPDI – 6th, EPDI – 7th, and EPDI – 8th. Individual teachers and cross-disciplinary teams of teachers are encouraged to apply. Participants will receive
- A $300 stipend.
- A Certificate showing 40 Continuing Professional Education hours.
- 32 hours of Differentiated Curriculum and Science toward the Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented Awareness Certificate.
